Morpeth Street

Gloucester, England

The brief for this garden was deceptive. It had to be simple to maintain but attractive all year round. We decided to focus on the hard landscape elements and use knapped flints in a pattern within gabion baskets and step risers. The studio, similar to the design of the one in Green Hill Park, was clad with natural slates set flush in a tiled pattern. This creates a mother of pearl effect in certain conditions of natural light. Planting in raised beds constructed of rusted mild steel provides a further contrast in colour and texture.
